Nick Thompson
PERSONAL – Nick lives in Carmichael, California with his fiance Taylor and 2 year old daughter, Waelyn, pronounced like and probably named after Waylon Jennings. He’s got another baby on the way in September. Nick works for the State of California although didn’t mention what he does. I would look it up but his name is far too common and it would take me too much time. Nick’s dad got him started playing golf when he was three but he didn’t play much in high school or college because he was focused on football. He picked it up again after college.
TIE TO THE MONTEMAR – Nick met Ryan Butler (the only person in history to shoot an 80 at Yoche Dehe while completely blacked out ) when they were 5 years old in kindergarten and the rest is history. Nick’s dad coached their basketball team together. None of us knew it at the time, but the moment mine and Ryan’s paths crossed at Haggin Oaks, was the moment Nick sort of became tied to the tournament.ake it stand out

Later on, Ryan got Nick a job at Haggin Oaks and I know him from then. He’s a very friendly guy who will fit in perfectly with this group of people and I’m pumped to have him.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2024 – Nick travels to Coeur D’Alene every other year. His dad and his siblings grew up there but the real reason Nick heads back is to play the beautiful golf courses. This fact alone will give Nick more course knowledge than all except a few of his peers. Will it be enough to win a jacket? Probably not. This isn’t because of his 12 handicap, which is very respectable in this group. It has way more to do with the fact that he’s a rookie. If he’s around in 2025 Nick will do some damage.
