Notes about our Scoring System

  • It’s much easier than it looks at first glance.

  • The computer takes care of it all. Follow the rules above for scoring.

  • All the games we play are games you’ve probably played before.

  • What’s different is many of these games are overlapping at the same time.

  • This provides more chances to win and more chances to meet new people.

  • All finishing places for all games are assigned a point value.

  • Handicap plays a small role here and returners will almost always have an advantage over rookies. This is by design.

  • Everybody’s handicap will change after round one.

  • There is some randomness and chance to our scoring and that’s by design. Looking for variety year after year atop the leaderboard.

Saturday at Circling Raven

THE GAMES: Individual stroke play (net and gross divisions) based on hcp, 2-man randomized best ball, 4-man randomized best ball, long drive, closest to pins.

EASY POINTS:

In cart on time – 20 pts

Scorecards accurate and on time (each group must turn in two identical scorecards) – 20 pts

Present for lunch, draft, and awards – 20 pts

CONTEST POINTS:

Individual Net (8 divisions of 10) – 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 per division

Individual Gross (8 divisions of 10) – 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 per division

Randomized 2-man best ball (both players on team earn) – 10 pts to first place team, 1 pt to last, everything in between

Randomized 4-man best ball (all four players on team earn) – 10 pts to first place team, 1 pt to last, everything in between

Par 3 points (for each par 3) – 5, 4.5, 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1, .5 (It is important to mark your distance if you are top 10 closest)

Long drive points (one hole) – 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1, .5

OTHER POINTS:

Birdie = 2pts, Eagle = 5pts, Ace or Albatross = 10pts

1 quality photo of your group for this round texted to me during round (360-305-4500) (include your name) = 3 pts. (These are not group points. For all four members to earn pts all four would text a different pic)

Sunday at Circling Raven

THE GAMES: 4-Man lose-your- clubs-scramble, long drive, closest to pins.


Why lose your clubs? Biggest reason is to prevent stacked teams from going too low. My team did this last year and all four guys on that scramble team finished in the top 5. We don’t want that, nor do I want to draft for a scramble. This should be played with your friends, regardless of their skill level. By losing clubs in a Nassau Style scramble we make it real tough for any one team to dominate all 6 divisions. This way, one team may go 6 under on the front, but even par on the back, allowing lesser skilled teams to catch them while keeping the net scoring close enough for the gross portion to be flip flopped. This should keep the overall scoring much tighter headed to Monday, which is ideal.

Losing your clubs is also different, a ton of fun, and creates a really fun challenge for the teams good enough to go low enough to lose them.

LOSE-YOUR-CLUB INSTRUCTIONS

* This list will also be on your carts that day.

14 clubs Max per player (this should be the case for all rounds). No Sharing Clubs

1 under par – Lose all clubs numbered 2 or 3 (hybrids, irons, or woods plus 1 irons)

2 under par – Lose all Wedges and chippers (includes pitching wedge)

3 under par – Lose all Drivers

4 under par – Lose all Putters (after this you’ll have to putt with irons)

5 under par – Lose all clubs numbered  4 or 5 and any woods numbered 6 to 7

6 under par – Lose all clubs numbered 8

7 under par – Lose all remaining clubs numbered 6

8 under par – Lose all clubs numbered 9

Good luck with your 7 irons. You only get clubs back at this point if your score gets worse. EX… Bogey to go from 8 under to 7 under you’ll get your 9 irons back. 

Clubs never reset and you only get more back if you bogey. 

If anybody has a unique club setup (ie... only woods and hybrids) that makes this extra challenging, let me know and and we'll make concessions. The idea is to make it more challenging, not impossible. 

As with anything in golf this is on the honor system. Play it how it’s supposed to be and you’ll have a ton of fun and the tournament will benefit.

 

Monday @ The Resort Course

THE GAMES: 2-man best ball, 4-man best ball, 2 vs. 2 best ball match.

PLAY CARDS: For Monday’s round, each 2-man team will be awarded four play cards. 1 Reverse Mulligan for the team. 1 Mulligan per player. 1 Throw per player. 1 Card that forces your opponent to play one club on the hole of their choosing. (Cards and details will be handed out)

EASY POINTS:

In cart on time – 20 pts

Scorecards accurate and on time (each group must turn in two identical scorecards) – 20 pts

Present for awards and entire Jacket ceremony (ends at around 4pm) – 20 pts

CONTEST POINTS:

2-man best ball (changed from 2-man scramble) – 20 pts to first place team, 1 pt to last, everything in between.

4-man best ball – 20 pts to first place team, 2 pts to last, everything in between.

2 vs 2 Match – 25 points to the winning 2 players. 0 points to the losing 2 players. 12.5 each if they halve the match.

Par 3 points (for each par 3) – 5, 4.5, 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1, .5

Long drive points (one hole) – 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1, .5

OTHER POINTS:

Birdie = 2pts, Eagle = 5pts, Ace or Albatross = 10pts

1 quality photo with the lake somewhere in the background texted to me during round (include your name)= 3pts.

Pre Tournament Points

Deposit 1 - 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 based on date of pay

Deposit 2 - 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 based on date of pay

Deposit 3 - 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 based on date of pay

*Late entries get max payment points as long as they paid on time after signing up.

Referrals - 3pts per referral received by 9/4/23 of new players who are in the tournament
