Dillon Alward

PERSONAL - Dillon lives in Rancho Cordova, California with his wife Baylee and they have no kids yet. He works as a terminal attendant for Cemex Construction Materials, an international bulk cement/aggregate dealer. Dillon took up golf at the age of 13.

TIE TO THE MONTEMAR - Dillon is part of the Ryan Butler birthday clan. Ryan and I share a birthday - a few years apart - so I know that Ryan turns 31 a few days before we tee it up for the Montemar. Buy him a drink if you think about it! Dillon and Ryan met in high school and the rest is history. His profile response was swift and brief so I got to turn to google and my imagination to wing this a little bit.

I randomly spoke to Dillon on the phone last week when he called my golf course and he seems like a polite young man. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess he’s a fun guy also. Some people just look fun and when they do, and they’re friends with Ryan Butler, I think it’s a pretty safe to guess Dillon is a guy who knows how to have a good time. I’m excited to have him and the rest of Ryan’s crew at the tournament. The more youthful people we have at this thing the better shot we have at keeping it going for many years to come. Dillon should be another great addition to the Montemar.

ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR - Nothing yet but anything helps.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2024 - Unless one is a scratch golfer, it’s nearly impossible for a rookie to come in here and win this tournament. That said, Ryan has laid some ground work in securing a lot of referral points and Dillon could play an important role in his buddy Ryan securing his first top 10 finish. They are paired together for the scramble and Dillon’s handicap will play a nice part in how they do in the net portion of that. On the flip side, if Ryan blacks out and goes nuclear again, he could help Dillon quite a bit in moving up the standings. The random pairings and draft will play a big part in how things work out this year and, if Dillon returns in 2025, our scoring system will give him as good of a shot at that jacket as anybody. Most important thing though is that Dillon and Ryan’s crew have a blast. Would have loved to have something like this to go to when I was 30.

ODDS TO WIN - 112-1

FUN FACT - Dillon played varsity basketball at Rio Americano and might be the tallest Montemar player at 6-6.
