Sean Isaacks

PERSONAL – Sean lives in Grass Valley, California and is single with no kids. He works as a cashier at the Shell station and has been golfing since he was about 10.

TIE TO THE MONTEMAR – The profile for Justin Isaacks came out a while ago but has everything to do with Sean’s road to the Montemar. In case you don’t remember, Justin was a very unlikely first hire for me here at Bartley. His resume didn’t make it through the initial stack but I was lucky enough to find it after searching a little harder. If I wasn’t so picky about the people I hire, Justin or Sean wouldn’t be playing in this Montemar.

It sounds like it’s worked out real well for the brothers also, as Sean mentioned to me that now that Justin is around the game all the time, the two have found something they can do and bond over together. He says he has a lot of fun and quality time with his brother on the golf course.

I met Sean a few weeks ago at my course and he seems like a great guy – no surprise considering who his older brother is. We’re pumped to have Sean at the Montemar.

ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR – Nothing yet but there’s still time left.

WHAT NEEDED TO HAPPEN IN 2023 – The swapping of Noonan for Cox pushed Sean from the first player in the 3rd division to the last player in the 2nd and as I look at that division I’m going to contend it was a tough break for Mr. Isaacks. The 2nd division is loaded – Puckett, Crider, and Wat could all compete in the first – and only 3 strokes separate first to last. Luckily for Sean he’s getting the 3 strokes here. In order to compete though he’ll need to bring his A game. He may have a connection in the driving range industry and my suggestion right now would be to take advantage of that and get ready to play some great golf. Sean will also have an advantage over any of the drinkers as he’s one of a handful of our crew who have gotten smarter and doesn’t do that any longer. I rarely drink and learned last year it’s definitely harder to play golf with a hangover. Sean may be one of the only people in the group still feeling fresh by Sunday and that could keep him in this thing come Sunday.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2024 – Sean stayed fresh all the way through and I think he had a blast. Last year he had terrible luck in the two-man random pairings and great luck in the four-man pairings. The last second division swap cost him a couple points and probably five or six places on the leaderboard.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2024 -  Sean heads to the 2024 Montemar with the benefit of being a returner and the handicap difference that comes with it. His handicap for round one will be nearly three times greater than it was a year ago and it will place him in a division where he can do some damage and climb that leaderboard early. To really contend for a jacket, Sean needs to put some pressure on his older brother to actually get out and practice golf. Justin using his resources, he runs a driving range, and learning to play to his ability, would go a long way towards helping Sean with the much needed scramble points. No matter how it plays out, the Isaacks crew seems set up for another great vacation. Glad to have Sean back on board!
