Neil Pena
PERSONAL - Neil is single with no kids and lives in Sacramento, California. For work he’s an accountant for a California low income housing management/development firm. Neil has been golfing since he was 12 and started off playing Del Paso and Rancho Murieta. .
TIE TO THE MONTEMAR - Neil was Ryan Butler’s cousin’s best friend growing up and the two met that way at family gatherings.
I was just reading through Neil’s profile answers and starting to think he may be a pretty good dude. His name’s Neil, like one of my besties, the internet says he played some sports in high school, he likes to golf, he’s doing soem damage to the beers in that picture right there - notice the empties, but then…
I read something that made me realize he’s probably a murderer. And that something is the fact that he’s an Oregon Duck!! As a die hard Washington Huskies fan, our world’s aren’t supposed to overlap! As I finish my deep breaths and calm myself down, I remind myself that Neil isn’t the only Duck in this tournament. Rob Flournoy (Flo), also had an unfortunate upbringing and became a Ducks fan. He’s currently the only Duck fan I like and happens to be one of my favorite people, mainly because he keeps paying me out each time we beat them. That all said, my expectations for Neil are low but my hopes are high and I’m hoping he can be the second guy to prove to me that all Oregon Duck fans aren’t murderers. We’ll see how this goes. All (sort of) kidding aside, Neil seems like a great dude and another great fit for this tournament.
ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR - Neil is donating a couple divot tools with hat clips. Thanks, Neil!
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN - There’s a lot of Washington Huskies in this tournament and there’s no way an Oregon Duck is going to come in and win this thing as a rookie, or ever. I get a little worried with this guy considering that Neil grew up playing some pretty tough and nice country clubs and Steve Carroll is the only person in the tournament closer to his athletic prime. I just realized I don’t have his handicap yet, so he could be terrible, but either way this format is built for anybody to win. The most important thing here is that Neil has a great time and meets some cool new people, even if they happen to be Dawgs.
ODDS TO WIN – 400000000-1
FUN FACT – Neil is working on his goal of playing all the courses at Bandon. So far has played Old Macdonald, Pacific, and Sheeps Ranch). To throw fire on his college football team preference, he also cheers for the Whiners. Unfortunately we have many of those in this tournament.
