Jackson Lambirth
PERSONAL – Jackson lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Julia. They were married two years ago and have a one year old baby boy. Jackson is a sales manager for software company called Podium and has been golfing since he was about 12.
TIE TO THE MONTEMAR – Jackson’s profile reply was light in the way you may expect from a busy man with a baby on the way. I thought about calling my good pal Addi for a little more info on his buddy but calling to talk about a huge Lakers fan, the day after the Warriors were eliminated by said Lakers team, didn’t seem like the best idea. I’m going to use my imagination and google to help get me through this one.
Lucky for me, Jackson is a very modest guy who left out a lot of cool information that I was to find on google… but I’ll get there in a minute. What I do know for certain is that Michael hired Jackson to be his account assistant and it was Jackson’s first real job. I can’t confirm this but knowing Michael I’d imagine this job interview happened at a strip club. Mike met a guy who liked to get rowdy and say “let’s fuckin’ gooooooooooooo” and hired him on the spot, as Star was leaving the main stage and Lexi was coming on. “You want to be my account assistant?” Mike asked.
To which Jackson replied, “Let’s fuckin’ gooooooooooo.” The following Monday Jackson showed up to his first day of work at toast. For clerical reasons, the HR manager required him to turn in a resume, one that Mike had never seen. And as good luck would have it, and as google would tell me, Mike got lucky and found a good one.
A quick google search of “Jackson Lambirth” let’s you know he’s a Cornell Grad, who was also president of his fraternity, who was also a defensive end on the football team. And not the kind of defensive end who only got to play in practice. Jackson was a part-time starter who racked up 20 tackles for his Ivy league school before appearing to hang up the cleats after his sophomore year.
Listed on the football website at 6-4 and 276 - although appearing much trimmer in his post-playing days-, Jackson is an early favorite of mine to win a long driver competition. He also sounds like a very accomplished and impressive young man who makes another great contributor to the Montemar.
ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR – None so far but he already seems like a fun dude and that has to count for something.
WHAT NEEDED TO HAPPEN IN 2023– He comes into the Montemar with a handicap just under 18, which puts him somewhere right in the middle of division 3. I don’t know if that’s good or bad but it definitely means things could go either way. His scramble team is solid and led by Steve Carroll’s single digit handicap, and Ryan Butler, who can catch fire at any time. The updated random pairings-by-numbers (I’ll be releasing a week prior because I don’t feel like doing them again if something happens) put him in what looks to be a real formidable 4-man team and a too-soon-to-tell two teamer. No reason Jackson can’t be alive in this thing come Sunday.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2023– Jackson, who lives in Phoenix, was a local guy for last year’s tournament. I’m guessing he had a blast because he’s traveling to Idaho for 2nds and he’s bringing some buddies with him. What actually happened may be the reason he’s bring some guys with him. I look at his scramble points, with a team I put together, and I can see why he may want to bring some more guys to the party. I played with Jackson on the final day and he was a blast to hang out with.
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2024 – Jackson had a baby since the last time we had a Montemar. If life experience has taught me anything, this doesn’t always work out well for your golf or drinking games. Each are hard to practice with a little one to look after. Jackson’s first major test, one I’ve failed before, will not be letting the drinking game get out of control. So easy to taste those first 12 coors lights and flip over to shots of everclear after that. Avoid the everclear was my dad’s advice and it’s the advice I’ll give Jackson. On the golf side of things, Jackson can do all the shots, the trick will be doing them consistently. The handicap is much friendlier than a year ago and this won’t hurt. If it’s buddies can play it should help a ton also. No matter what happens on the golf course we’re pumped to have Jackson back and looking forward to seeing the big guy in Idaho.
ODDS TO WIN 87-1
