Mark Foster

PERSONAL – Mark lives in San Jose, Ca with his wife Jane (whom he met in Addi’s garage, or at an A’s game with Addi, depending on who’s telling the story), son Joe (14), and daughter’s Emma (10) and Mary (4).

Mark makes his living as an account manager at Pace Supply working with plumbing and mechanical contractors of all sizes. Has played golf for 14 years but only very casually until the past 3, when it was written in his work description that he should be taking clients out to the golf course. This explains a lot, as Mark is constantly texting pictures of himself playing nice golf courses on weekdays.

TIE TO THE MONTEMAR – In a lot of ways, big Mark is the tie to the Montemar. He met Mike in high school after Mike had transferred to Bellarmine then met Simon while working at Andronicos. He always thought Simon wanted to fight him (for those who have stood next to Mark this should be funny) but one day someone said hi and they became buddies. Funny how that happens. He hung out a bit with Simon’s group then took them all to a party Addison was hosting. The rest is history.

Shortly after, Mike and myself met when we moved into the house on Montemar Way the same week. Mark was always a staple at the house and always running around looking big. At first I wasn’t sure about the guy, he’s loud, really big, probably the biggest and most athletic human I’ve ever met who wasn’t an offensive lineman in the NFL, may even be bigger and more athletic than most of those guys, and drank too much. But as I got to know him I realized that he was really just a big teddy bear.

He’s quit drinking since those days and can still be a little loud, but he’s as kind and caring as anybody. Mark played in 2022 but had to take last year off because some asshole at some point in time decided 8th graders needed a graduation. We’re glad to have him back and looking forward to having him involved with this year from now until forever.

ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR – As noted above, Mark is donating some cool stuff to the prize pool. He’s a guy who will always help out in any way needed. Most importantly, he’s one of the main reasons we all know each other.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN – Mark needs to keep playing as much as possible with those clients. In his first taste of Montemar, Mark came out hot, firing a 90 at Yoche and ending day one in fourth place. A rough day at Darkhorse shot him down the leaderboard and he ended finishing in the bottom of the pack. Mark is gonna have to pepper the par 3s, choose wisely for his scramble team, draft well, and hope for some luck with those random pairings. Very people who I’d rather win this. Mainly because I want to see him try to put that jacket on.

 ODDS TO WIN – 84-1

FUN FACT – Mark never played football and this is just crazy to me. You’ll see why when you see him.
